Traverse Hotham is dedicated to introducing more people to the joys of cross country (XC) skiing and snowshoeing in our magnificent alpine environment. No lift tickets, no queues, no crowds - discover trails less travelled and escape to a whole other world out there!

Subject to skier ability and snow conditions, the aim is to learn basic and/or improved XC ski techniques while discovering some of the scenic groomed trails Hotham Alpine Resort has to offer - where possible we apply a tour teaching methodology. Perhaps skiing isn’t for you? Snowshoeing is an easy way to get out among the snowgums and appreciate the beauty of our high country away from the crowds.

Scheduled XC lessons operate Wednesdays and Saturdays at Hotham and Mondays at Dinner Plain - we offer separate ‘Intro to XC’ for those coming over from downhill skiing or who may have tried XC before and ‘Absolute Beginner’ for those who may have never been on skis before at all. For something more relaxed, immerse yourself in magnificent alpine views on top of the world with a Sunset Snowshoe Experience operating Wednesdays and Saturdays out of Hotham Central.

Private and bespoke ski and snowshoe tours covering various levels of ability and areas around Hotham and Dinner Plain may also be arranged, subject to availability. Get a group of eight or more together for a guided snowshoe experience and enjoy 20% off – don’t forget snowshoes hire is included!
